British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate

Show-stealing specials are very much the Sasso thing, and at Harrogate there will be some terrific new additions to this extrovert collection
For brides who like a little cover, Sasso will be introducing some new styles and variations for 2010 -a light silver fox feather version of the Streisand stole, the Minnelli shrug and the Valencia stole with tails plus a vintage cream long sleeved Alexi jacket and a fabulous Alaska jacket in New York feather or burnt stripped ostrich wrapped with marabou - very adventurous, very glamorous.
In terms of hats, the feel is somewhat eclectic with big bows, birdcage veils and lace caps, flower headbands or silk roses and tulle.
And according to Sasso, gloves are back - classic Hepburn-esque gloves with delicate bows and a smattering of Swarvoski crystal. Sasso will also be introducing two new labels at BBEH - a bridal jewellery collection from Barcelona plus the latest pearl range from a well-known UK designer.

Sasso is known best for its feathery stoles and jackets, individualistic jewellery and the sort of ahh-making accessories that are quite irresistable. Owner Elaine, always on the lookout for new ideas and bright talent, discovered a young designer, Sarah Collins, at a local gift fair and was so enchanted with her work that she has commissioned her to produce an exclusive group of tiaras, including the one above, called Babycrown. At Harrogate, Sasso will also be showing a group of headbands that are worn across the forehead - currently a celeb favourite.

Elaine, boss of accessories design house Sasso (the company was named after one of her daughters, Sassy) has every reason to be delighted with the way her business is moving forward. Her latest collection includes vintage jewellery corsages and some amazing handmade floral headpieces that are individualistic and quite gorgeous, the buyers are loving them. Elaine's background is interesting. In 2004, she helped out an old friend in Germany who wanted to promote part of his company's bridalwear accessories in the UK. The majority of his produced were sourced from sChina, except two off white maribou shrugs that were made in Europe and proved not only to be show-stoppers but also to be the inspiration behind the company that Elaine went on to form. On her first visit to the same maribou manufacturer, Elaine found the choice of feathers was fantastic and the design possibilities endless. She got them to dye their feathers in soft shades for brides and to use ostrich, maribou and coque, and combinations of them. These wraps formed the classics that became the Sasso signature. Since then, they have been added to with feathery jackets and shrugs, colours bold and pastel and an eclectic range of vintage-style accessories that includes saucy little hats, gloves, veils, lace skull caps and jewellery. For 2010, Elaine has added bows to gloves, flowers to veils, and retro headdress inspired by the original screen goddesses. If you want to be charmed, check Sasso out.

This is one of my favourite fashion shots
Retro Chic * Romantic Elegance * Soft & Floaty. everything for the bride who wants something a little different. Wearing our New York feather stole - one of our more expensive pieces but worth every penny, I think, it has long ostrich feathers twisted around a shorter marabou feather and then the ends of the ostrich are frayed to give a floaty almost lacey effect, comes with a detachable satin tie , delicious. Love the bench too rather grand, would like one of these for my garden.
